Ski Socks at Arc’teryx

A ski boot holds your foot tightly and leaves a sock almost no room to bunch, so the details matter more in ski socks than in a trail sock. Ours are Merino-based, padded where the boot presses and fitted to align with ski and snowboard boots. This page has two designs, the plain Merino Wool Ski Sock in black and the Merino Wool Grotto Ski Sock in a bold print.

Why choose merino ski socks with a nylon core?

Merino regulates temperature and resists odour, which is why our merino ski socks are built around it. In the Merino Wool Grotto Ski Sock the 200 needle Merino fibres are wrapped around a nylon core for added durability, and the blend also carries nylon and elastane. When the snow season ends, the same fibre carries on in our merino wool hiking socks, and our hiking socks cover trail days.

Why do ski socks have padding where the boot presses?

In good ski socks the padding sits at the shins, toes and heels, where a ski boot concentrates pressure, and a grid texture at the shin of the Merino Wool Ski Sock adds channelled breathability. The Grotto sock has gridded padding under the forefoot for warmth and climate control, and the plain sock adds built-in arch support. Both use a performance fit to align with your boots and help minimise the slip that causes friction.

Do I need men’s ski socks or women’s ski socks, or is it one unisex range?

Both designs are listed as unisex and sized small to extra large, so men’s ski socks and women’s ski socks come from the same range. The sizing chart lists men’s US and women’s US shoe sizes side by side. Small starts at the women’s end, extra large runs to the men’s end, and medium and large cover both. Add a ski jacket or women’s ski jacket to finish the outfit.

Ski Socks FAQs

Are merino ski socks warm enough for a cold day on snow?

The Merino Wool Grotto Ski Sock is described as warm, and its gridded forefoot padding adds warmth and climate control, while Merino also regulates temperature on its own. If your toes still run cold, check boot fit and circulation before adding bulk, because a boot that is too tight can cut circulation.

How long should ski socks be?

Long enough that the sock always sits above the top of the boot and up the shin. The Merino Wool Ski Sock is mid-calf length for warmth and weather protection, with a grid texture at the shin, so it covers the area the boot cuff presses on. Check the sizing chart on the product page for your size.

Can I wear the same ski socks for skiing and snowboarding?

Yes. Both designs are made for ski and snowboard use across freeride, resort and touring, with a performance fit that aligns with ski and snowboard boots. The padding sits at the shins, toes and heels either way, so you do not need a separate pair for the board. Browse the full ski and snowboard range for the rest of the kit.

How do I wash merino ski socks?

Follow the care label on both designs by machine washing gentle on low in a washing bag, inside out, with wool detergent and no fabric softener or bleach. Do not wring them, and line dry.
